02:05 PM EST, 01/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Netflix ( NFLX ) is positioned for a potential upside in subscriber growth driven by the success of Squid Game Season 2, live events like National Football League Christmas games, and the full 2025 content slate, Oppenheimer said in a note emailed Wednesday.
The brokerage, however, reduced its estimates for Netflix's ( NFLX ) 2025 revenue and earnings per share by 4% and 6%, respectively, given the strengthening of the US dollar.
For the long term, the company will benefit from reduced competition due to Hollywood's production struggles, leading to better churn, while live events are expected to drive subscriber acquisition and retention as well as generate ad opportunities, with 10 annual live events seen to raise about $2.2 billion in advertising revenue, according to the note.
The firm lowered its price target on Netflix's ( NFLX ) stock to $1,040 from $1,065 with an outperform rating.
