08:08 AM EST, 12/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms ( META ) has reportedly agreed to pay $1 million and reform its advertising system in Israel to resolve a class action suit alleging that Meta's tools enabled employers to discriminate against job seekers on grounds of age and gender, local media outlet Globes reported Thursday.
The lawsuit, initiated by a 54-year-old sales and marketing worker, alleged that Meta's tools enabled employers to target younger candidates and excluded older job seekers, according to the report.
Under the settlement agreement filed recently in the District Labor Court, Meta will review its ad policies, require advertisers to confirm compliance with anti-discrimination laws, and publish guidelines in Hebrew promoting equal employment opportunities, the report added.
Meta did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
