Lithium Argentina, Ganfeng to Develop Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes Basins in Argentina
Apr 11, 2025 4:56 AM

07:39 AM EDT, 04/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Lithium Argentina ( LAR ) on Friday said it plans to develop the Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes basins in Argentina with Ganfeng Lithium.

The area to be developed includes Ganfeng's Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes project, the Pastos Grandes project (85% owned by Lithium Argentina ( LAR ) and 15% by Ganfeng) and Sal de la Puna project (65% owned by Lithium Argentina ( LAR ) and 35% by Ganfeng).

The companies are working on a framework to consolidate the three projects and finalize the regional development plan on the combined resources, targeting up to 150,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). The plan will also consider the production of lithium chloride to provide added flexibility for use in battery markets.

A 5,000 tpa demonstration plant is currently being manufactured for installation at the nearby Cauchari-Olaroz lithium operation that is jointly managed by the two companies.

Ganfeng and Lithium Argentina ( LAR ) are also exploring financing options, including collaborating with potential customers and strategic partners for offtake and minority ownership interests.
