07:35 AM EDT, 04/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Aura Minerals ( ORAAF ) reported Thursday a 7% decline in preliminary gold equivalent production for the first quarter.
The company produced 60,087 gold equivalent ounces in the three months ended March 31, falling from 64,820 gold equivalent ounces. Despite the lower output, Aura said it remains on track to achieve its 2025 production guidance of 266,000 to 300,000 gold equivalent ounces.
"The first quarter of 2025 went well, aligning with our yearly plan and keeping production on track to hit our goals," said Rodrigo Barbosa, Aura's president and CEO.
At the end of March, Aura commenced operations at the Borborema mine in Brazil, its fifth mine. No production volumes were recorded from the mine in the first quarter. Borborema is expected to produce 33,000 to 40,000 gold equivalent ounces in 2025.
"This strong start sets us up nicely to meet our yearly targets and boosts our confidence in growing and improving our operations," Barbosa said.
Aura's share price rose 10.1% on Wednesday to $25.00 on the TSX.
